Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Friday night we had a special treat for all the kids!  My brother Michael and his wife Jessica packed up Kalen and Lucas and headed over to my mom's.  We all got tickets to go to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!!  We have not done this in a couple years (Blase was only 2 the last time we did this).   We got there nice and early and enjoyed doing some rides and then we watched the fireworks and then headed over to Main Street to get seats for the Halloween Parade!  I was quite impressed with Grace (who normally turns into a pumpkin at 7pm).  She held on till 11pm!!! She did not fall asleep till we got into the car and headed home!  I think my Dad got more pictures of all the kids together but this is all I have on my computer!

Grace got a costume change.  She also got a special bag from Color Me Ducky etsy shop!
She loved this bag so much!!

Michael and Jessica were dressed up as Superman and Wonder-woman!!  They looked awesome and Jessica made the capes herself!  Mom was dressed as a Mimi and Dad was a Jets player

Grace and Lucas love each other so much!

This and Mickey's Very Merry are probably two of my favorite events that Disney puts on.  I am so happy that Jason was able to come and have some fun with us!  It also warms my heart the way Kalen screams Blase's name!  They are so cute together and we all had some major fun.  Plus we got to leave with bags of candy!!

Grandpa's 90th Birthday

Last weekend I took a SUPER quick trip to New Jersey for my grandfather's 90th birthday party.  I am so blessed with such amazing family and friends who helped with my kids!  Jason was suppose to be early on Saturday and then off on Sunday.  Well, his schedule changed and he had to close Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!  I left on the first flight out of Orlando on Saturday and got to Jersey at 9:30 in the morning.  My parents picked me up and we went to a diner (where i got taylor ham!!) for breakfast and then headed up to my Uncle Alex's house.  My cousin Natalie swung by as well.  We had a really nice afternoon with Uncle Alex, Nancy, and Natalie.

We have the same type picture from when i was a kid!

Sunday morning we got up and had breakfast in the hotel.  We all then went back to the room and got showers.  I really wanted some white castle!  (I have an addiction to white castle and must get some wherever i found a White Castle!)  So, Dad and I got into the car and headed to White Castle.  On our way we stopped at the cemetery.  When we got back to the hotel we got ready for Grandpa's dinner.  I was so excited to see my cousins and Grandpa.  I have not seen them since Michael's wedding 4 years ago!  I have not seen Asa since Julianne's wedding 5 years ago!  I also wanted to see Julianne's little baby bump!  Dinner was fantastic and we got to hear a bunch of stories from Grandpa on how he met my Grandmother during WWII!  After the dinner I headed back to the hotel and then headed back home!  It was a super fast trip but I am so happy that I was able to go!

Cruise and T-ball

At the beginning of September we did something that we as a family have not done since our honeymoon!!  We went on a vacation!  (We have traveled since we have had the kids to see family) This was our first family vacation where we did not go to see anyone!  Neither Jason nor I have ever been on a cruise!  So, we booked a 3 day cruise out of Port Canaveral to Nassau.
It was amazing!!! The kids were awesome!  Blase loved going to the kids club and Grace loved hanging out at the splash pad.  We did not do anything when we got to the Bahamas (mostly because the kids were not really big enough for anything) but we did go to the straw market and just walked around a bit.
The food was awesome! Blase keeps asking Jason when we are going on another cruise!

Once we got back to everyday life Blase started T-Ball!!! This is the first year that he is old enough to play a sport!  He is on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish team!  We have had 2 practices and he is doing as good as a 4 year old can!  He does not understand that once he hits the ball he has to run to first.  Instead he chases after the ball. LOL  They have their first game on Monday so I will blog about it!
Here are some pictures from his first practice.

Guest Blog at Johnny in a Dress

I am Danielle fromThe Ullrich Family Adventures. I am a stay at home mom of two little ones!  Blase who is 4 and Grace who is 16 months.

I have one blank wall in the kids toy room that drives me crazy!  I found on pinterest a craft with the kids names and finger paint!  (source)

So I changed it just a little instead of their whole names I just did their first initial.

Here is what you need:
Painters Tape
Finger paint
(Make sure your finger paint is washable! You will see why)

I got every thing ready before I told the kids what we were doing. Then we headed outside into the grass with our stuff!  The hardest part was making their letters.  I just winged it.  I used some long pieces and then I cut a lot of small pieces to make the letters look right.

Blase with his B

Grace with her G

Blase jumped right in and actually I wish he would have stopped before everything was just a greenish hue.

Grace started off ok.  She only tried to eat the paint once.  But then she discovered how much fun it was to squish it in her hands.

She then decided that it was more fun to paint her shirt and her hair then painting her canvas.

Once they were done painting I took them and left them on the porch to dry before peeling off the tape.

Once they were completely dry I carefully peeled off the tape.
I think that they turned out pretty good.  I think that maybe in the next day of so I will put the year in the bottom corner so we always know when we made them!

Hope you enjoyed this little project and be sure to stop by my blog!

Back to school!!!

It is that time of year again!  I know some moms get all sad but trust me that is not me!  Blase LOVES school and I love that it makes him so independent!  (I'm sure next year will be harder cause he will be in school full time)  This is his 3rd year at St. Luke and St. Peter's Pre-School.  It is hard to believe that he started there when he was just 2 years old!  He has learned so much!

We are so proud of the little man that he has become!

Sorry I've been MIA!!!

Well, summer is coming to and end.  I am not sure how I feel about this!  Part of me is thrilled that Blase will be going back to school.  But the other part of me is sad that he will be going three days a week this year!

On Tuesday Jason was off so we loaded up the car and headed to the beach!
Everyone had a blast!

Mom Challenge Week 9

I was a teacher.  I taught 3rd grade until I had Blase.  The thing that annoyed me the most was parents that made excuses for their children!  You are not doing any good by being that parent.

I understand when our children as young we sometimes have to make excuses for them. (they say something inappropriate or they just do not understand)  But I also think that there are only so many times that you can make the same excuse for your child.

Now after saying that do I make excuses for my children??  Of course I do in some situations.  Blase is not perfect I know that, but I also know that he will learn by making mistakes and missing out on certain situations.

I have a perfect example of this.  We did vacation bible school this year (our first time).  The teachers were handing out tee shirts from the past year (they only had a couple).  The teachers told the kids that if they do not follow directions they will not get a shirt.  My son did not get a shirt.  Now I had one of two choices.  1. I could pitch a fit and get him a shirt or 2. I could use this as a teaching lesson.  Blase did not get a shirt and he knew (and told me) exactly why he did not get one.  I chose option 2!  He was slightly upset.  I asked him why he did not get a shirt.  His response was that the teacher asked jim to sit down and be quite.  He told me that he sat down but did not stop talking.  So we discussed what he could have done to get the shirt.  Was he upset? Of course!  Did I feel bad for him?  Yes!  But did he learn a lesson?  YES!! You bet your butt the next time he will sit down and be quite!

Do you make excuses for your child?  How do you handle a situation where they miss out on something because of their actions or behavior?

Mom Challenge Week 8

This week we are going to focus on finding something that your child is passionate about.  Do they already have a passion?  How do you help support that?

Do they love making things? Coloring?  Maybe introduce them to something new.  Introduce them to watercolors, markers, or finger paints.

What are you passionate about?  Do you take the time to work on your passion?  I know that I love pinterest and have found so many different projects.  This week I am going to make at least 2 of them!! I have been saying for weeks now that I was going to make one thing and yet I never find the time.  It is something that I love to do!  I love to create and sew but I do not always find the time to actually do it!

What is your child passionate about?
